Frequently asked questions
Release & platforms
When is ROAR-E coming out?
There is no release date yet — we'll announce one when the game is good, not when a calendar says so. The plan is a soft launch in a small number of regions first, then a worldwide release. Email us with the subject Launch news and we will tell you the moment it ships, and nothing else.
Which platforms will it be on?
iPhone (App Store), Android phones (Google Play) and PC. Store pages will be linked from this site when they are live. Tablets are expected to work but are not a launch commitment.
Is there a beta or test flight I can join?
Not publicly yet. When we open a test, it will be announced here and to anyone on the launch-news list.
Price & what's free
How much does it cost?
Worlds 1 and 2 are completely free. That's ten platforming levels, two Rampage Runs, Bastion Roll rides, the first Ember Rush arena, bonus rounds, the camp, the Daily Ember Run and every Cub in those worlds — roughly two and a half to three hours of real game, with no gates, timers or nags.
After that, one one-time purchase (“the Full Pride”) unlocks Worlds 3–5, every remaining ride and arena, Mirror Trials, both endings and the post-game relic hunt. Bought once, yours forever, restorable on your other devices. The price will be published on the store pages.
No energy systems. No wait timers. No loot boxes. No gacha. No pay-to-win. Cosmetics in Pearl's Workshop are direct purchases with the item and the price visible up front, and every season's earnable cosmetics are as good as the paid ones. Read the full list on our promise to players.
Will there be ads?
Never interstitials, never banners, and no ads at all once you have bought the unlock. In the free tier you may be offered a strictly opt-in rewarded ad — for example a retry token after several deaths on a level — that you choose to watch or ignore. They are capped per day and configured for non-personalised, child-appropriate ad content.
Do I need an account?
No. There is no sign-up, no email and no password. Progress is saved on your device; if you use your platform's cloud save, it travels with you.
Playing it
Is it suitable for kids?
ROAR-E is a cartoon action platformer — “Saturday-morning cartoon with teeth”. We are targeting ratings of ESRB E10+, PEGI 7 and Apple 9+; the final ratings will appear on the store pages. There is no chat, no user-generated content, no social features and no behavioural advertising. Assist mode is free, unlimited, and nobody is judged for using it.
Does it support controllers?
Yes. Bluetooth and MFi controllers work on mobile from day one, with a full remapping screen. The touch controls use a floating stick plus a jump button and one context-sensitive action button, tuned so a phone feels like a controller. PC supports keyboard and controllers.
What accessibility options are planned?
- Button size and opacity sliders, and a full left-hand mirror of the controls.
- Colour-blind-safe hazard palettes, verified for protan, deutan and tritan vision — one colour always means one thing.
- Reduce screen shake; hold-to-toggle slide; controller remapping.
- Subtitles on by default with adjustable size and per-character colour chips.
- Assist mode: free, unlimited, and surfaced in the pause menu without stigma.
What is it built with?
Godot Engine 4, with a hand-painted non-photorealistic rendering pipeline so the game looks like the key art in motion. It targets 60 fps on mid-range Android phones.
Refunds & purchases
How do refunds work?
All purchases are made through the platform stores, so refunds are handled by them: on iPhone, use Apple's Report a Problem page; on Android, request a refund through Google Play; on PC, through the store you bought from. If a store turns you down and you think that's wrong, email us and we will help. Nothing here limits your rights under the Australian Consumer Law or the consumer laws of your country.
I bought the unlock on one device. Can I use it on another?
Yes, on any device signed into the same store account. The Restore purchases button is on the unlock page and in Settings — not buried.
Press & creators
Can I get key art, screenshots or the trailer?
Yes. Email us with the subject Press and we will send a kit. Video creators are welcome to record, stream and monetise ROAR-E gameplay and trailers; please credit the game and link to roare.app.
Partnerships and platform enquiries?
Same address. We're a small Australian studio and we read everything, though we may be slower than a big publisher's inbox.
